Norris Edges Out Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team followed a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese spun out over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was lucky to avoid just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran finished practice in P19, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
