Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Is Here, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Iconic Releases
Similar to the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands
The feature will see the return of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release close to the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
