This winter recruitment period is always a period of feverish rumour and possible major transfers. Numerous notable footballers find themselves connected to moves away from their present teams. Here is a look at some of the major names who are poised to be on the move in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, this has kept the player available, reports suggest an important transfer is imminent. The 25-year-old has a deal with a sizeable release clause applicable for a two-week window at the start of the month. Latest reports indicate the Premier League champions are now the frontrunners for his services. Former interested parties like Chelsea and Tottenham are said to have moved on to alternative options, leaving teams like Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a last-minute bid.

Marc Guéhi

This English centre-back has impress for Palace this season a previous transfer to Anfield falling through. With his deal set to expire in the close season, this represents the London club's final chance to secure a fee for their captain. A host of elite clubs, such as Manchester City and several continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to hold an interest. Marc-André ter Stegen

The veteran Germany goalkeeper finds himself as third-choice at Barça under new coach Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and had surgery, a January exit seems highly probable. The much-admired Netherlands teenage midfielder has drawn comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. After starring at the U19 Euros, he has broken into the AZ first team. The teenager is heavily tipped to complete a major transfer this month. Newcastle United are believed to be frontrunners, but are facing strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing priced at around twenty-two million pounds.
